Why An SQL Backup Is So Important
Most companies feel that they have done everything they can to insure their business, their employees, and their clients. But, there is one thing that is rarely insured, nor is it protected, and that is the data itself. If you don't have a SQL backup program up and running right now, then your business and your job is in serious jeopardy.
The likelihood of something happening to your data is actually very high, and probably a lot higher than you might think. There are several ways that your data can disappear or become corrupted, and no matter how well you think you have it protected, it is just never enough. Without a SQL backup, if something happens to your data, you will have nowhere to go.
There are numerous reasons why something can happen to your data. The most common reason is hardware failure. It does happen from time to time, and when it does, it can be disastrous. Even if all of your equipment is fairly new, you just never know when something integral to your data's safety will fail.
Having a SQL backup is also important if you have multiple users on your server. Sometimes people accidentally delete or damage files, while other times the files are intentionally tampered with. Someone who has the intention of hacking into your server will always find a way, and if you don't have a backup, you are just asking for trouble.
There are several very good backup programs available, and you should take the time to evaluate them for cost, convenience, and ease of use. Time really is of the essence, so before someone or something destroys your data, make sure you put a backup in place and start using it as soon as possible. It is the only real way that you can insure your company's information.
