Netbook Or Notebook: Know Your Requirements and Decide Yourself!

If you are making plans of purchasing a portable computer for yourself then you might just be confronting with the question of whether to buy a netbook or a notebook?"

First of all if you are not a tech geek then you might feel like an alien hearing the word "netbook". Well, to meet your curious mind here I tell you what a netbook actually is. A netbook is a kind of laptop computer which IS smaller and comparatively a lot lighter than the usual notebook, but it has also a comparatively slower processor. Conventionally from the aspect of the display size, the netbooks are having display lesser than 12 inches. Well, this is in deed quite a generic definition so I opine it's the best thing to identify how the manufacturers term its specific product - whether they regard it as a netbook or as a notebook.

Here, I present you a comparative analysis of these two gadgets:

1. Speed of the Processor
Netbooks are having a lot slower processors than the notebooks. Presently, majority of the netbooks are having Intel Atom N280 processor which is capable of giving 1.66 GHz that functions quite well on the netbooks. On the contrary, the notebook computers are having processors that are capable of 2 GHz or even more.

2. Display
Needless saying, the notebooks are having quite larger displays than the netbooks. However, this does not signify that the comparatively smaller displays aren't good. As a matter of fact, they function just fine. It also solely depends upon your preference.

3. Size of the Keyboard
Like the display, the size of the keys on the keyboard on the notebooks is a lot better than those found on the netbooks -and by better, I meant the keys are larger and simpler to type on.

4. The Storage
A usual netbook available in the market today has a mere160 GB of hard drive storage as compared to the lot larger ones in the notebooks. A netbook worth 160 GB is generally sufficient for the office files and some music and few videos; but if you are expecting to save a huge files and programs with time, then 160 GB might just not be sufficient.

5. Cache Memory (RAM)
Currently, netbooks with more than 2GB of cache memory are not available. But, it's also true that for regular office work you won't require more than 2GB of RAM. On the contrary, the Notebooks can have RAM as much as 4GB for more graphically enhanced programs.

These are few of the fundamental distinctions between the two kinds of gadget. Now, it's up to you and your requirements which one to go for.
